Directions
Traveling
from the north: out of the airport, turn right onto
Hwy. 19. Take the first left turn at the signal from Hwy.19
onto Kai’imi’nani Drive. Proceed to the top of the hill.
Turn right onto the Hawaii Belt Road, Hwy 190.
Drive
approx. 3-4 miles until you reach the road sign that says,
“Holualoa 5” Turn left. This is Hwy 180 and it will be 5
miles before you reach the residential neighborhood just
before Holualoa Town. You will see a sign, “Reduced
Speed Ahead” and then 25 m.p.h.” Followed by a green and
white sign, “Kona Imin Center” with an arrow indicating
a left turn. Turn left into the Imin Center driveway and
you will be able to see immediately on your right before
starting up the driveway a one lane blacktop road that runs
parallel to the hwy you just left. Turn right onto it and
drive until you see the first two houses on your left. My
easement runs between these two houses about 500 ft. to
the foot of my property. You will know it is the correct
turn because of my mailbox (white, blue ocean & green sea
turtle) and because the easement is two concrete tracks
separated by grass in the middle. At the foot of my driveway
is a sign mounted on a stone pillar, “The Orchid Inn” with
my address. If you’ve come too far into the town you will
see a grocery store on right, post office on left and several
art galleries You’ve gone too far.
Traveling
in from the south: you need to get onto Hwy. 180. An
easy way to do so is to turn uphill on Lako Street, which
is well marked on Hwy 11. There is a signal light, a street
sign & a Chevron gas station. Travel uphill to the end of
Lako, turn rt. You will be on Hualalai Road where you will
go until it dead ends into Hwy.180 (Mamalahoa Hwy.) There
will be a sign on the left that says Holualoa… Turn
left here and travel 1.5 miles into the village of Holualoa.
When you have the Post Office on your left & directly across
the street is Paul’s Place look straight ahead for the 25
mph sign. Drive toward this sign & pass it so that it is
on the driver’s side of the car. This will put you onto
a single lane blacktop rd. without a street sign & you are
still traveling north parallel the highway you just left.
There is a speed bump in front of you painted white. 500
yds. or so along this road will be the sign for The Orchid
Inn. Follow the directions above as to the correct road
to turn on to. Please note that you cannot see “The Inn”
from this point. It is neither of the two houses
that you turn between. You will see it after traveling about
100 ft.
